A school built around understanding
Spring of Knowledge is an in-person Quran and Islamic studies school in Oakville, Ontario, for boys and girls aged 4 to 18.
Our goal
Together we build a generation steadfast in its faith, creative in its thinking, and distinguished in its character.
Why we teach this way
It is possible for a child to finish years of Quran classes able to recite beautifully and unable to tell you what a single verse means. We did not want to run that kind of school.
So understanding sits at the centre of everything here. Recitation is taught properly — tajweed, fluency, correction week by week — but it is taught alongside the meaning, and students are expected to ask questions about both.
The same thinking shapes the rest of the curriculum. Younger children meet aqeedah, fiqh and seerah as stories and activities. Older students work through the Islah curriculum, which leans on reasoning and discussion because teenagers deserve arguments, not instructions. And a Saturday includes sport and art, because four hours should be a day a child wants to come to.

Four commitments we hold to
Classes small enough to hear everyone
Seven to ten students in a Quran class. This is the constraint everything else is built around, and we hold it even when demand is high.
Modern methods, traditional content
Interactive teaching for the young, activity and debate for teenagers. The content is classical; the delivery belongs to this century.
Character alongside knowledge
Life skills, critical thinking and conduct are timetabled, not assumed. A student who knows a great deal and treats people poorly has missed the point.
Our teachers
Our team is trained to teach mixed rooms — different ages, different levels, different starting points — and to notice the child who has quietly stopped following. High school classes for boys and girls are taught separately.
